The Stone Church of Willow Glen was founded in 1946 by Presbyterian Reverend Thomas Simpson.  Reverend Simpson went from door to door in Willow Glen to elicit membership in the new church.

The unique architectural style of the church was established from the beginning.  When the new sanctuary was built in 1955, stonemason Manuel Sunyer carried out the theme in the interior of the new building, and in the patio.

The Garden Prayer window and the Benediction window were created for the new sanctuary in 1955 by Carl Huneke, Century Stained Glass Studio, San Francisco.

The stained glass in the older chapel, office and music room (formerly the Pastor’s office) are of unknown origin, but were probably created when the original building was built in 1946.  Several of the transom windows were removed and stored when the new sanctuary was built.

The Garden Prayer window medallion is based on the well-known painting, “Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane” painted in 1896 by Heinrich Hofmann. That painting is in the Riverside Church, New York City.
