A mission of the San Joaquin Presbytery was established in the Navelencia School in 1913.  Soon after, services  were first held in Orange Cove over the hardware store, then in the McCord School.  By 1923, a church manse had been built.

The present sanctuary was built in 1951.  Many volunteers assisted in the construction.  The name, First Presbyterian Church of Orange Cove was established.

The leaded cathedral stained glass windows were created and installed between 1968 and 1971 by Carl Huneke, Century Stained Glass Studio, San Francisco. The windows on the west side have Old Testament themes.  The windows on the east side are from the New Testament.  The chancel window, Christ the King, is designed in the style of the Cathedral of Chartres.

These are the last windows created by Mr. Huneke, whose beautiful art appears in almost 70 churches in Northern California.

The small opalescent glass windows in the vestibule are of unknown origin.
